The Story

Mr. Anton sold this large scale property, known as The Ashford, on the Upper East Side to Equity Residential on behalf of a family in the midst of a bitter dispute. 13 years later, Equity Residential retained Mr. Anton to sell the property, which he did for a then incredibly low 3% cap rate at $86,000,000. A key part of the process was coordinating with the previous family ownership to confirm that the unit deregulation work had been properly completed. The group closed just before the sweeping rent regulation changes of 2019 reshaped the landscape for multifamily assets.
